SpearsareWeaponsin Nioh 2.This weapon works in conjunction with the Spear Skillsskill tree. Spears scale primarily off of the Constitution Stat, but also scale off of Strength and Skill. This page covers a full list of Spears in Nioh 2 and information about their stats.
There are two spear types in the game, indicated by the weapon icon on the weapon card: Spears and Cross-Spears. There is no difference in gameplay, but the Sanada Clan and the Set Bonus+ version of The Red of Devotion gives you a melee damage bonus for having a Cross-Spear as one of your equipped weapons.
This weapon has the longest average range in the game, as well as above average damage in general. This allows you to use your range to safely deal damage to enemies in a position they can not challenge. Despite its range, spears also have several high utility and damage options that you can use up close: Body Swap is an unblockable position shifting attack that can be canceled early with Yokai Skills for free unblockable damage, if you have the Anima for it; Spearfall and Entangle can immediately ground human enemies and small Skeleton Warriors; Flying Monkey and Rainbow Ruse are unique mobility options; Spear Flourish as an adaptable attack that is done when Ki pulsing that briefly stuns humans, though bosses can block this stun stat.
However, it has a major weakness in it's low Ki damage. Pole Kick is slow to use, and it has no Sword Ki or Double Kick equivalent attack. This also means it struggles a bit against enemies that don't get staggered, as you won't have much time to make use of the damage the spear can do, and won't be able to create the opportunity for more damage by draining their Ki as easily. The Wooden Spear is a consideration for more Ki damage, at the cost of melee damage.

Below is a list of Spears in Nioh 2, and each Spear has an effect that will ALWAYS be present, no matter what other random bonuses there may be. These effects are listed in the "effect" column. Damage values are not listed since these change by rarity and level, making it difficult to compare them easily. Break and Block are listed, since these do not change with rarity or level.
Every Weapon in the game hasFamiliarity. The better quality of the weapon, the more Familiarity can be obtained with the weapon, and over time the damage and bonuses of the weapon will improve as the Familiarity increases up to a maximum. This way, using the same weapon over time can yield higher damage than another, even if it's lower level.
