Dr. Ian Rice

Dr. Rice is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopy, treating athletes and active individuals of all ages. He is a native of Cincinnati, and a graduate of St. Xavier High School, Miami University, and the University of Cincinnati. He served as chief resident of his orthopedic surgery residency program and completed his sports medicine fellowship with Beacon Orthopedics. Dr. Rice has published research in the journals Orthopedics and the Journal of Surgical Orthopedic Advances. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM), Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS), American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), and the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA), among other professional societies.

In addition to his clinical training, he has served as assistant team orthopedic surgeon for the Cincinnati Reds, Wilmington College, Gannon University (PA), Fort LeBeouf High School (PA), and Archbishop Moeller High School. He worked with local team physicians including Xavier University men’s basketball team surgeon, Dr. Robert Burger, and fellowship director and Cincinnati Reds team surgeon, Dr. Timothy Kremchek. Dr. Rice currently serves as team orthopedic surgeon for Roger Bacon High School. He is passionate about returning athletes to the sports they enjoy and minimizing injuries with sport-specific prevention programs in high-risk athletes.

Dr. Rice performs advanced, minimally-invasive arthroscopic procedures for sports-related injuries of the hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow, treating conditions including:

Shoulder: Rotator Cuff Tear, Labral Tear, Biceps Tendonitis, Shoulder Dislocation
Knee: ACL, PCL, and Collateral Ligament Tears; Meniscus Tear, Cartilage Injury, Patellar Dislocation, Knee Instability
Hip: Hip Labral Tear, Femoroacetabular Impingement (CAM or Pincer Deformity), Abductor Tendon Tear

Dr. Rice’s special interest in hip arthroscopy and treatment of sports-related hip conditions brings a new dimension of sports medicine to TriHealth Orthopedic & Sports Institute. He practices individualized medicine based on the patient’s needs and offers each patient a customized plan for care. Dr. Rice’s patient care goals include treating every patient with the compassion and attention to detail that he would provide his own family, and to provide the same professional-level care received by the world’s best athletes.

Dr. Amanda Chaney

Growing up, Dr. Chaney looked at her doctors as her heroes- the people who helped her stay healthy so she could work toward goals in education and sports. She chose to specialize in family medicine with an additional fellowship in sports medicine because of the broad range of people she can help throughout their lives.

Dr. Chaney sees patients of all ages, from newborn through geriatrics, providing comprehensive care for acute and chronic conditions. She provides non-operative orthopedic care for athletes of all ages and abilities. She is trained in using ultrasound imaging for orthopedic injections and diagnostic purposes. Impressed with the sense of relief she felt with her own doctors, she wants to build a relationship of trust with her patients that allows them to look to her for advice and comfort.

Dr. Chaney encourages everyone to take one day at a time and to set small goals and know that nothing is impossible.

A Cincinnati native, Dr. Chaney volunteers at St Gertrude church and has worked with People Working Cooperatively. She has also volunteered her medical care to many local sporting events including Walnut Hills and Seton High School. She also works with TriHealth’s Events Medicine Team, which is affiliated with the Bengals, Reds, and other local teams and sporting events. She enjoys scuba diving, working out, baking, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends.
